What to look for in a Supervised Visitation Provider

This is akin to finding the correct daycare provider, not the first choice or cheapest choice is the right choice.  It is fraught with legal and personal implications.  In your choice, ask, is this the best person for my family?  Those questions should include at a minimum, the qualifications of the person overseeing the program, the level of care the staff will provide and if the environment is a good fit for you and your family. These are not the only things to think of when choosing.  Does your provider understand how you received Supervised Visitation?

While much like childcare, plenty will have opinions regarding you and your attorney’s choice.  However, will they be in the courtroom explaining why your Supervised Visitation provider cannot properly document or testify to the visits if it comes to that? Will they have an explanation on how they handle nursing babies? Do they support your vision for your child? Do they have the staff to understand and comprehend the cultural competence for your family and circumstances during supervision and adhere to your wishes of no meat, no pork or Kosher only?  There are many, questions, good ones, that you should have the answer too before leaving your child.

When seeking a Supervised Visitation Provider, security, safety, and neutrality is core, as is competency in the families you are serving.  Don’t be afraid to do your research and ask questions about who you are leaving and trusting your child and legal supervised visitation in the hands of.
