Supervised Visitation is known by many names, including supervised parenting time or monitored visitation.  The main goal is to provide with children safe, conflict-free access to their parent.   In supervised visitation, the child and parent visit in the presence of a trained supervision monitor.  

There could be many reasons that a parent would need to be supervised with a child, and even if the parent does not agree that they should be supervised it is best to comply for the benefit of you and your child. 

Here are just a few tips on how to make your visitation/parenting time experience the best it can be:

1. Comply with all court orders and instructions given during your intake. Do not ask your Supervised Visitation Provider to do anything differently than what the court has ordered.
2. Do not miss visits.  We all have things come up but remember your child is waiting. 
3. Do not view your supervision provider as the enemy or spy.  The provider should be neutral and is not there to take sides, only report objectively on your visits.
4. Do speak up if you have concerns or questions before your visit.  Do not wait to the middle of your monitored visitation it to ask something that may have been better reserved for beforehand.
5. Do prepare for your supervised visit and age appropriate topics. Stay in the present, not the past.
